This rag tag band of cross-national metal musicians came together organically.

Bonding over a wide variety of metal and other music, Belgian multi instrumentalist, visual artist and producer Raf Ahrayeph - formerly of Ancient Rites and N.F.D. and currently still masterminding his Gothic Rock project-on-hiatus Ahrayeph - and American singer Staci Heaton combined their forces and musical prowess to summon a communal creative global mind; hence the moniker Trans World Tribe. Along the way, mutual friend and U.K. guitarist Alex Ward, formerly of Foreigner's Journey, joined the ranks, and while circumstances prevented him from playing on this release, English drummer in Dutch residence Alex Martin will soon be contributing his drumming power to The Tribe. And since this is a tribe of musicians, expect more of them, hailing from several countries, of course, to join in for a future musical gathering of The Tribe

For now, though, there is 'Defiance'; Trans World Tribe's first born, consisting of two - three, if you pre order - original songs and two covers : Living Colour's 'Leave It Alone (with guest bass player Alain Meloen of reggae band Asham Band) and Iron Maiden's 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'. It amounts to a sonic assault that needs to be heard, fittingly, the world over.

After leaving Ancient Rites, Raf Ahrayeph devoted his concentration solely on the Gothic Rock he wrote and recorded with Ahrayeph, the band.

But the metal gene never went away, and a chance virtual encounter with both American singer Staci Heaton and English guitar player Alex Ward reignited the passion for writing metal songs again.

Thus, Trans World Tribe was born. And they mean business. ... more
